Welcome to Brian Marshall's Page

HI EVERYONE!  Yes, if you haven't already heard, Brian has been lured into the exciting world of Dancing with the Stars.  Event co-chairs Senator Robert Meza and Karrin Kunasek Taylor (the veteran culprits) assure him that his reputation will stay intact...politicians and zoning attorneys sure can be persuasive!  As the only donor/recipient in this year's event, Brian hopes to inspire others to consider becoming kidney donors.

Dancing with the Stars is one of the premiere annual events in the Valley.  The celebrity dancers and approx 1,000 attendees include elected officials, business leaders, sports stars, and media personalities.  And this year's event will be bigger than ever as the AZ Kidney Foundation celebrates its 50th Anniversary.

OK, so now you're wondering "what can I do"?...

Brian's goals...

  • Inspire others to consider donating a kidney (almost 90,000 people in the US are on a waiting list right now).
  • Inspire 3 table purchases ($5,000 x3).
  • Find sponsors for 3 additional tables for his father and family to attend ($5,000 x 3).  Or 25 seats ($500 per seat).
  • Receive other donations with a combined total of $25,000 to $50,000.

Here's what we've done so far!!...

Tables (other) 2 tables
Tables (for family) 0 tables
Seats (for family) 16 seats
Other Donations $4,450
Combined Total $22,450

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT!

Check out Jerry's New Life

Here's Our Story

About 3 years ago, while living in Australia, Brian and his wife Karen learned about his dad’s (Jerry’s) rapid decline in kidney function.  With a very large family and many friends, Jerry received an outpouring of volunteers willing to provide the needed kidney.  Brian’s brother Jeff said it best:  “You didn’t have seven kids for nothing!”

After preliminary tests Down Under, Brian’s kidney was thought to be a potential match…but more tests were required in Arizona.  To potentially avoid two separate trips from Australia, the Mayo Clinic thankfully scheduled additional tests and a tentative surgery date within weeks of one another.  The Arizona Transplant House at the Mayo Clinic also provided lodging for Brian and Karen for the entire trip to the US.

In early March 2010, Brian’s kidney was found to be a match, and the transplant successfully occurred one week later.

Post-transplant, Jerry continues to be “off the charts” healthy and spends his time doing business development for a national health care company and also volunteering at the Mayo Clinic as a courtesy golf cart driver and team leader.  Brian and Karen have recently returned to the Valley and are thoroughly enjoying the Arizona lifestyle.
